Easy + Energizing Banana Maca Smoothie

2 - 3 ripe bananas

2 ½ cups of oat milk

1 tsp of pure maple syrup

3 tbsp of maca powder

1 tsp of raw cacao powder

Optional: Dash of cinnamon, 2 tbsp of any type of nut butter


Add everything to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.



Maca Root is one of those “superfoods” that I feel like is on the rise and I can totally understand why. Not only is it rich in its sweet, smooth and nutty flavour, maca also has a slew of health benefits!


Maca Root, or the botanical name Lepidium meyenii is a plant closely related to the broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale family or the Brassicaceae family.

Maca root is native to Peru, and can come in three types; yellow, black and red maca. Yellow maca is the one that is most commonly found in groceries and health food stores (and the one used in this recipe)


There have been several studies that show the numerous positive effects consuming maca, the primary benefits are; hormone balancing, fertility improvement, increase in cognitive function and as an adaptogen.
